A marble staircase is not just a piece of décor — it is the first thing a guest sees on entering, and the detail the family touches every single day. Choosing the right type and the right craftsman is the difference between a staircase that serves you for twenty years and one that needs attention every season.

In this guide we put together what any customer needs before starting: what installing a marble staircase in Riyadh actually costs today, which type of marble suits your stairs, and how to avoid surprises in the final bill.

How much does a marble staircase cost in Riyadh?

The price depends on the type of marble, the number of steps, and the precision of finish required. These are realistic figures from the Riyadh market in 2026 — per step, including the tread and the riser with basic installation:

Prices change when you ask for special finishes such as an “Open Book” (mirror-matched) pattern or carved edges, and when you choose 3 cm thickness instead of the standard 2 cm.

A practical note: showrooms that advertise “90 SAR per linear metre” are talking about the fabrication labour only — no marble and no installation — a misleading figure for anyone looking for the full price. Always ask for a written quote that itemises the value of the marble + fabrication + installation + the consumables (cement, adhesive, edges).

The cost broken down: fabrication and installation as separate items

So you can read any quote with confidence, know that the cost of a staircase is made up of three separate items — not one vague number:

1. The value of the marble itself — by type and thickness, and usually the largest item (see the figures above).

2. Fabrication of the marble — cutting, edge rounding and bevelling, charged by the linear metre and varying by marble type:

These prices cover cutting, edge rounding and bevelling. Add 5 SAR per linear metre when you ask for decorative grooves (the lines carved along the edge of the step).

3. Installation labour — the on-site work, ranging between 40 and 80 SAR per step, not including consumables (cement, adhesive, sealing materials).

When someone gives you “one number per metre,” ask: does it include the marble? The fabrication? The installation? The materials? An honest quote spells these out clearly — and that is what we commit to in every quote we issue.

Which marble do you choose for your home’s stairs?

There is no absolute “best type” — there is a type that suits your use and the look of your home. These are the main options available in the Riyadh market:

Italian Carrara marble

The classic white with soft grey veins. A calm, luxurious look that suits both modern and classic homes. Relatively porous, it needs care with stains and periodic sealing.

Calacatta marble

The finest of the Italian family — a bright white with clear gold or grey veins. Suited to the main staircase in a luxury villa. Its price is higher, but its presence raises the value of the home and leaves an unforgettable impression on guests.

Emperador Beige marble

Turkish, in warm tones (beige, caramel, brown). It suits homes with warm lighting and classic décor. Its price is reasonable and its durability high, and it hides marks better than white.

Omani marble

Local, the most affordable, in very light tones. An economical choice for a service staircase or an upper floor that guests do not see.

Botticino marble

A light beige with fine veining, one of the most popular choices in Riyadh for combining luxury with a reasonable price.

In our showroom in Riyadh, we display all these options in person — because online photos never convey the real depth of marble.

The stages of building a marble staircase — from measurement to handover

A professional staircase installation passes through five stages, and each one deserves its time. Rushing any of them is the number-one cause of problems after installation.

Stage one — a site visit and precise measurement

A specialist technician comes to the home and measures every step (length, width, height) using laser tools. This stage matters because, in a finished building, the steps are rarely identical in size — each one needs its own individual fabrication.

Stage two — choosing the marble and the design

The customer visits the showroom, or we send real photos of the available marble (not ready-made catalogue images). They choose the type, the finish (polished or honed), the edge profile, and any special details. We prepare a detailed quote with a clear lead time.

Stage three — cutting the marble in the workshop

The measurements are taken to the workshop. Each slab is cut by machine to millimetre precision using CNC saws, then polished and prepared for transport. This stage takes 7 to 14 working days depending on the number of steps and the complexity of the edges.

Stage four — installation on site

The installation team arrives with all the materials. They start by levelling the stair base, then fit the risers, then the treads with a specialist marble adhesive. Installing a medium staircase (14 to 18 steps) takes 3 to 5 days.

Stage five — finishing and handover

After the adhesive dries we do a light polish, a final clean, and edge treatment. The customer receives the staircase and signs a quality handover sheet. We explain how to care for it in the first months — the time when marble is most sensitive.

What raises the cost without you noticing?

Three details that show up in the final bill and often surprise customers:

The complexity of the staircase shape. A straight staircase is far cheaper than a spiral or curved one. Every curve requires special cutting in the workshop and harder installation on the ground.

An upper floor with no lift. Carrying marble slabs (some weighing up to 70 kg) up to the second or third floor by hand adds a labour cost the customer sometimes does not account for.

Special finishes. An “Open Book” pattern where the veins of two adjacent steps mirror each other, carved edges (bullnose, ogee), and hand-worked ornamentation — all of these require extra workshop time and a higher price per metre.

We itemise every line in the preliminary quote so there are no later surprises.

How do you choose the right installation company in Riyadh?

The market has dozens of companies and craftsmen, but not all of them specialise in marble specifically. These are six signs of a serious company:

  1. A real showroom you can visit — not just an office and a phone number.
  2. Real marble samples on display — not catalogue or internet photos.
  3. A written, itemised quote — not general numbers in WhatsApp messages.
  4. A site visit and an actual measurement before pricing.
  5. A written warranty on the installation (at least one year).
  6. A portfolio of previous work with real photos of completed projects, not images lifted from the internet.

At Golden Crystals, we have all of these. Since 2007 we have been carrying out marble projects for Saudi families and commercial projects in Riyadh and the central region.

Questions customers often ask

How long does a full staircase installation take?

From 10 to 20 days from the date the quote is signed to final handover. It depends on the type of marble (locally available is faster than imported), the number of steps, and the complexity of the design.

Can marble be installed over an old concrete or wooden staircase?

Yes, in most cases. A concrete staircase only needs surface levelling. A wooden staircase needs a load-bearing assessment — marble is much heavier than wood, and sometimes we have to reinforce the structure first before installation.

What about sealing and slip prevention?

We seal every type of natural marble before handover, especially if the staircase is near an external entrance. For places used by children or the elderly, we fit an anti-slip strip in the same colour as the marble — it does not spoil the look.

Do you install outside Riyadh?

For now we serve Riyadh and its immediate surroundings only. This guarantees fast response and quality supervision of the installation.
