Marble is a natural product quarried from the earth, and variations in colour, veining, shading and texture are genuine characteristics of natural stone — not manufacturing defects.
Stairs are usually priced per step — including the tread and the riser — and vary with the marble type, the number of steps and the finish. Local Omani marble is more affordable, while Carrara and Calacatta are higher. Ask for a written quote that breaks down the marble, the fabrication and the installation, and avoid "linear-metre" figures that quote the fabrication labour alone.
Stairs take daily traffic, so we recommend the durable, less-porous types such as Turkish Emperador and Omani marble for heavy use, while Carrara and Calacatta remain the finest choice for villas that want a bright, luxurious look. We talk the trade-off through with you before you decide.
