When you go looking for the price of a marble countertop for your kitchen, you always hit the same problem: every showroom writes “call for price” or “made to order.” The numbers you find online are out of date, or specific to Egypt, or do not include installation and consumables.
In this guide, we put the realistic numbers in front of you — as they are in the Riyadh market in 2026. The goal is not just a price to compare, but to understand what the price is made of so you are not surprised by the final bill.
Price summary (for the reader in a hurry)
| Marble type | Approximate price (SAR / m²) | Tier |
|---|---|---|
| Local Omani marble | 250 – 450 | Economy |
| Turkish Emperador marble | 400 – 600 | Mid-range |
| Turkish Botticino marble | 450 – 700 | Mid to upper |
| Commercial Italian Carrara | 600 – 900 | Luxury |
| Premium Italian Carrara | 900 – 1,400 | Very luxury |
| Italian Calacatta marble | 1,200 – 2,200 | The finest |
| Local quartz (Silestone / Caesarstone class) | 1,300 – 1,600 | Mid engineered |
| Premium quartz (Dekton, Caesarstone) | 1,800 – 3,000 | Luxury engineered |
These are prices for the marble per square metre (a 2 cm slab) only — they do not include fabrication or installation. We explain the rest in the paragraphs below.
What actually goes into your kitchen countertop bill?
The final price of a complete kitchen countertop in Riyadh is made up of five items — each one worth pausing on:
1. The price of the marble (raw slab)
Per the table above, multiplied by the number of square metres in your countertop. A countertop 4 metres long and 60 cm deep = 2.4 square metres.
2. Fabrication and machining
This covers cutting the slab to the countertop’s measurements, the sink cut-out, the tap hole, and the hob cut-out if there is one. The price is usually 200 to 350 SAR per piece with standard openings. Curved openings or custom shapes cost more.
3. Edge finishing
- Straight edge: free (it comes with the basic fabrication)
- Bullnose (soft rounded): 60 to 90 SAR per linear metre
- Ogee (classic carved): 120 to 150 SAR per linear metre
4. Transport and installation
Within Riyadh, usually 300 to 500 SAR for a medium-sized countertop. It rises if the floor is an upper one with no lift, or if the pieces are large and need extra labour.
5. Consumables
Specialist marble adhesive, sealer, joint-filling materials. Usually 150 to 300 SAR for the whole project. Do not skimp on this item — ordinary adhesive fails after two years.
A real example — a 2.4-square-metre kitchen countertop
A medium countertop 4 metres long and 60 cm deep, with a 4-metre bullnose edge and an opening for a sink and a hob. Here is the cost across three different options:
| Item | With Turkish Botticino | With commercial Italian Carrara | With luxury Calacatta |
|---|---|---|---|
| Marble price (2.4 m²) | 1,440 SAR | 1,800 SAR | 3,600 SAR |
| Fabrication (3 pieces) | 750 SAR | 750 SAR | 900 SAR |
| Bullnose edges (4 m) | 300 SAR | 300 SAR | 360 SAR |
| Transport + installation | 400 SAR | 400 SAR | 500 SAR |
| Consumables | 200 SAR | 200 SAR | 250 SAR |
| Approximate total | 3,090 SAR | 3,450 SAR | 5,610 SAR |
The numbers are approximate, to show the gaps between the tiers. An actual quote needs to see the kitchen and take measurements on the ground.
How do you choose the right type for your kitchen?
The first question we ask every customer: how do you actually use your kitchen?
If you cook every day
Do not choose Calacatta or premium Carrara. Light Italian marble is acid-sensitive — a drop of lemon or vinegar leaves a permanent mark. The smarter choice here is engineered quartz, or dark Turkish Emperador marble, which hides marks and withstands daily use.
If you use the kitchen for entertaining and guests only
You have more freedom. Calacatta and Italian Carrara give a luxury no other option matches. With simple care (wiping liquids immediately, avoiding acids, sealing every couple of years) the kitchen stays as it is for 10 years and more.
If your kitchen opens onto the living room
Aesthetics become more important because the countertop becomes part of the living-room décor, not just a work surface. Quartz is possible, but it does not convey the warmth of natural marble. Carrara or Calacatta are excellent choices here.
If the budget is limited
Local Omani marble or Turkish Emperador give a respectable result at less than half the price of Italian. With a good finish, the difference in the overall feel of the kitchen is not great.
Natural marble or engineered quartz? The difference that matters in Riyadh
A question that comes up in every meeting. The honest answer: it depends on your priorities.
Quartz (Silestone, Caesarstone, Dekton) is very hard, scratch-resistant, acid-resistant, and needs no periodic sealing. But it is engineered, it does not carry the variety of nature, and it cannot be repaired if it breaks (it does not “knit back together” the way marble can be re-polished).
Natural marble is more beautiful visually, every piece is unique and never repeats, it adds value to the home on resale, and it can be re-polished if it is damaged. Its drawback is that it needs care, and it scratches more easily than quartz.
In Riyadh specifically, the dry climate helps natural marble — there is no humidity to cause efflorescence (“breathing”) of the marble the way it happens in coastal cities. That is why we see it hold up well in Saudi homes for decades.
Mistakes that cost the customer thousands of riyals
From our experience since 2007, these are the most common mistakes — and all of them are avoidable:
Settling for a “call for price”
Do not accept a verbal quote. Ask for a written one that itemises: the value of the marble, the fabrication, the edges, the installation, and the materials. That piece of paper is what protects you from later add-ons. Any serious showroom will not refuse to write a formal quote.
Choosing the cheapest without inspecting
The market has adulterated marble — engineered stone sold as natural. Always confirm the certificate of origin, and inspect the slab from the back: natural marble has a different colour on the back than the face, while engineered stone is completely uniform on both sides.
Measuring through the craftsman alone
A craftsman who comes for a rough measurement may take approximate sizes. Ask for a laser measurement of each piece, especially if your kitchen is L- or U-shaped. Small differences in measurement mean gaps between the pieces after installation.
Not asking about the thickness
2 cm is the standard. If you are offered an unusually low price, make sure the thickness is not 1.5 cm (breaks easily at the openings) or 1 cm (for flooring only, not suitable for a countertop).
Ignoring sealing after installation
Natural marble needs sealing right after installation, then every 18 to 24 months. The cost of sealing is 300 to 500 SAR for the whole kitchen, and it saves thousands in repair costs later. Do not skip this step.
Frequently asked questions
How long does it take to fabricate and install a full kitchen countertop?
From 7 to 14 working days from signing the quote. Marble that is in stock is faster, and imported marble may need extra time to bring in if it is not ready.
Can a marble countertop be installed over old wooden kitchen units?
Yes, provided the units are strong and able to carry the weight — a square metre of 2 cm marble weighs about 55 kg. We inspect the units before installation and tell you if they need reinforcing.
What if a stain appears on the marble after years?
Most stains are removed with a specialist marble-cleaning mix (never use vinegar or acidic cleaners). Deep stains need a light polish — and that is possible in most cases without removing the countertop from its place.
Do you offer a warranty?
Yes. A full one-year warranty on the installation and the consumables. The marble itself is natural and cannot be “guaranteed” in the sense of an electrical appliance, but we guarantee the quality of the delivered piece, and we replace any piece with a defect from the source.
Do you serve outside Riyadh?
For now we focus our services within Riyadh and its immediate surroundings. This guarantees quality supervision and fast follow-up, and lets us offer the warranty with confidence.
